The Sun King in Saratov
It was very sunny in Saratov these days, but in the Big Hall of Conservatory it was even sunnier during the closing event of The XX International Organ Festival. Our guest, the brilliant organist from beautiful France came on stage in an atlas shirt, color of sunrays, devoted fans brought him yellow roses on long stems — in tone with his shirt and with the major spirit that the musician can create with his virtuous play. One lady from the audience gave him a chick symbol of french royal house – white lilies. Finale of the concert sank in long ovations.
Vidil is not the first time in Saratov, here everybody knows and loves maestro. He is a well-recognised master of organ. For 10 years studied various disciplines in Paris and Versailles conservatories. While studing in Versailles, received three main piano prizes, at the age of 35 was appointed a professor of local conservatory. Have studied musical improvisation, harpsichord, strings, tube, percussions and jazz piano in Paris, Francis is a true man-orchestra, but there’s more to him that that. Francis Vidil
Musical artist
Francis Vidil (born 1961), is a French classical musician, performer and music professor. Vidil is best known for his long-time affiliation with VersaillesConservatoire, where he became a Tenure Professor in 1996, as well as his numerous performances around the world. Currently lives in the city of Versailles. Vidil is one of the few performers in the world being able to play the organ and the trumpet simultaneously.
Early career
[edit]Has been accompanying at masses since the age of eight. Francis' father, at the time, chair organist of Saint Paul and Louis Church in Paris, brought him to a four-summer training in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, the cradle of baroque music. This is there, that, as a child, Francis got to try France's most famous baroque organ. His conservatory teachers wanted him to complete his piano studies before allowing him to officially learn the organ and, by the same token, forbid him to practice improvisation, which he continued to do anyway. The Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume professors who decisively influenced his style were: André Stricker, Michel Chapuis, Huguette Dreyfus, and Xavier Darasse[1].
