Interview – Pat Seals – Flyleaf
There are a lot of artists that I like, and of course there are a million songs that sing my heart, but never has there been a band like Texas-based Flyleaf that has spoken to my heart in such a way. This past week I had a chance to sit with bassist Pat Seals and ask a few questions.
BM: So you all just finished touring out in the UK and I see that you are going to be starting a tour with 10 Years and Fair to Midland. I think that from what I’ve seen you guys might tour more than any band out there. How do you guys manage to do that?
PS: We tour less now than we have in the past, in support of our self-titled Flyleaf. We were on the road for the better part of three years. This year has been pretty cool; we do a month, maybe two months, of touring and then three weeks to a month off. Having those breaks in there make it definitely more livable. Being on the bus and having a crew that works as hard as ours does, that’s what kind of drives the thing. Knowing why we do it too… our faith in God drives us to do what we do, and that is the blood of the whole thing.
BM: I’ve heard that you guys actually have a pretty big crew including, some of the band members’ partners. How do you all fit in one tour bus and still get along?

Pat Seals of pop rock band Flyleaf talks about new album
THE BASSIST with gold disc-winning, Texan pop rock band Flyleaf, Pat Seals, recently told Fireworks magazine about the contrast between the band's latest album, 'Between The Stars', featuring new lead singer, Kristen May, and their 2012 Lacey Sturm-fronted album, 'New Horizons': "'New Horizons' was born in the midst of a storm. The songs were written and recorded as the band was breaking up and there's a tension there. This new album is more of reconciliation of Flyleaf and a bit of a rebirth. This album is more cohesive and the songs are way more danceable and the brightness that Kristen brings is there in the music too. There's a sense of freedom that wasn't here before and we all enjoyed making it."
