Sussex Street Apartments by Mim Design & Powell and Glenn
In the iconic bayside suburb of Brighton sits the recently completed bespoke apartment design project by Mim Design and Powell and Glenn. Embracing panoramic views across the Melbourne skyline and accompanying Port Phillip Bay, the apartments have been imagined with attention to detail and informal luxury resonant of urban beach reside.
The interior is a juxtaposition of soft, organic lines, a signature element by architects Powell and Glenn, and crisp clean finishes. Asymmetrical curves provide connection, rhythm and movement throughout the living zones, while the considered design and material palette is the perfect backdrop to the sculptural design within. With references to the 1930s and 1960s, the understated and rounded lines combine with larger gestures, and connect the contemporary dwellings to their art deco neighbouring properties.
Subtle and tonal finishes comprise the apartments, the main feature - an uncomplicated grey palette bought to life with monolithic slabs of limestone, mixed metals and warm timber.
