Meet Mr. Mulliner was first published in the UK by Herbert Jenkins Ltd. on 27 September 1927 (left), and appeared in the US published by Doubleday, Doran & Co. on 2 March 1928 (right). The book is dedicated to the Earl of Oxford and Asquith. The nine stories had appeared in magazines from 1925 through 1927, sometimes in slightly different versions. Wodehouse wrote to William Townend on 30 June 1945: “I sometimes wish I were one of those dignified birds whose books come out in grey wrappers with the title and author’s name on them and nothing else. God may have forgiven Herbert Jenkins Ltd for the jacket of Meet Mr Mulliner, but I never shall.”

"The Bishop's Move" is a short story by the British comic writer P. G. Wodehouse. A part of the Mr. Mulliner series, the story was first published in August 1927 in Liberty in the United States, and in September 1927 in The Strand Magazine in the UK.[1] It also appears in the collection Meet Mr. Mulliner.[2]
Plot
